Some feel it’s frivolous to celebrate certain relations or professions on certain days – Mother’s day, Father’s day, Friendship day, the ever so popular Valentine’s day… and then those for professionals such as Doctors day, Chartered Accountants day – both of which incidentally fall on the same day for Indian professionals – July 1.
We say why not. To a large extent, life gets busier as it progresses. So what’s the harm in these little reminders of celebration.
Chartered Accountants, Doctors etc. are in the noble (and lucrative) profession of serving people. One keeps our business compliances and often finances healthy and the other helps keep our mind, body and soul fit and work ready. Even the Indian Prime Minister appreciates the importance of such professionals in nation building.
I congratulate my CA friends on Chartered Accountants Day & convey my best wishes. They have a crucial role to play in India’s progress. — Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) July 1, 2014
Let’s take a moment today to thank these professionals, for serving the community and helping it grow, prosper, flourish.
For all other readers, just a quick reference on why these professions are celebrated on July 1 in India. It’s celebrated as Chartered Accountants day because on this day, in 1949, the ICAI – the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India – was established by the Constituent Assembly of India.
It’s also celebrated as Doctors day in the honour of the legendary physician and the second Chief Minister of West Bengal, Bharat Ratna Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy (1st July 1882 – 1st July 1962).
We wish Chartered Accountants, Doctors and all other professionals a happy, healthy and prosperous personal and professional life.
